Transportation Management
Transport system management means sustainable change
You can contribute to this change in practice! As befits a practice-oriented degree programme, we work with new partners every semester. This allows you to put the knowledge you have learnt directly into practice. In your advanced studies (6th semester), you will then decide to specialise in one of the areas of public transport, cycling, intelligent mobility systems or transport planning. Depending on your choice, you will either create cycle path concepts on behalf of a local authority, try to make an inner city area more attractive overall, improve public transport in rural areas with your innovative proposals or research strategies to increase passenger comfort together with the railway company. Many of these results are then taken into account by the project partners and subsequently trialled and, if successful, implemented on a permanent basis. But you will also gain an insight into ‘reality’ beforehand through the practical examples in the lectures and the practice-orientated exercises.

Mobility is international

During your studies, there are many excursions in Germany, Europe and worldwide. Right at the beginning of your studies, we will take you to a European metropolis. There you will learn in small groups how to deal with different transport systems and solve various tasks on the subject of mobility. In the further course of your studies, you can take part in workshops and excursions all over the world (e.g. Brazil, the Philippines, Canada) and work on projects together with local students. This promotes international exchange and gives you the opportunity to make contacts with students and universities from all over the world. You can also spend a semester abroad at one of our partner universities and thus gain an even deeper insight into the diversity of mobility.

Excursions within Europe

Sustainable Mobility in ...
For several years now, we have been conducting workshops and excursions with our international partners, such as the University of Waterloo, McGill University, the University Centre of Brusque - UNIFEBE, the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the University of the Philippines, under the title "Hands-on Sustainable Mobility”.
These established collaborations with universities and other higher education institutions around the world provide insight into a wide variety of transportation systems. During annual field trips and workshops, friendships are forged among students and understanding of each other is strengthened. In this way, our students immerse themselves in the transport worlds of Canada, Brazil or the Philippines and sustainable knowledge from the excursions back to the university and thus into their studies. In addition to the professional exchange, the focus is also on getting to know the respective culture and on the friendship between the students: Pub visits in Canada, barbecues in Brazil or discovering culinary novelties in the Philippines. So - feeling restless?
