Learn a Foreign Language

The Institute for Foreign Languages (IFS) plays a key role in the internationalisation of Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA). We offer courses in many different languages for students and staff. 

CEFR Courses
Certificates can be obtained for various levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) in English, German as a Foreign Language, Spanish and French. The courses have 4 credit points.

The German Academic Exchange (DAAD) English Language Certificate is also available for students applying for a semester abroad.

SiP Courses
In the Language and Intercultural Practice programme (SiP) we offer introductory courses in various languages: Arabic 1+2, Chinese 1+2, Japanese 1+2, Russian 1+2, Italian 1+2, Portuguese 1+2, Korean and Germany Today - an introduction to life in Germany for exchange students. Students can register for the courses as a compulsory subject or as an elective subject for 2 credit points.
