Talent in focus

HKA honors its best graduates of the past academic year at the Academic Year Celebration. In a festive setting, the award winners receive their prizes from sponsors from Economics and society.

We are delighted with the success of our graduates and would like to introduce them and their theses in more detail. The other award winners of the Academic Year 2024 will be listed here in detail at monthly distances.

Graduate Ida Hausmann

Ida Hausmann achieved an outstanding result in her Master's degree in Geomatics. For her Master's thesis, in which she deals with the prediction of phytoplankton occurrence in the California Current, she received the prize of the German Society for Cartography (DGfK) - Karlsruhe Section and the Friends of Geomatics at the HKA.

Graduate Miriam Alber

Miriam Alber achieved an outstanding degree in her Master's degree in computer science. In her Master's thesis, she dealt with visual quality control using AI, for which she was honored with the Association of German Engineers (VDI) prize. This is not the first time Miriam Alber has been recognized for her work - she already received an award for her Bachelor's thesis. In our HKA podcast, she talks about how she got into computer science, her voluntary social year, her studies at HKA, various software projects and her current job at iteratech GmbH.

Graduate Sergej Beizikis

Sergej Beizikis studied mechanical engineering with us as part of the StudiumPLUS program and completed an apprenticeship as an industrial mechanic at SEW Eurodrive at the same time. He received a prize from the Teutonia Technical and Scientific Association for his outstanding bachelor's thesis on the company'scarbon footprint. In the HKA podcast, Sergej Beizikis tells us how he experienced his StudiumPLUS, what he does in his current job and why he is very versatile as a mechanical engineer - true to the motto "Nothing is too difficult for an engineer".

Graduate Jonas Lepka

Jonas Lepka studied business informatics with us and wrote an outstanding master's thesis on improving the accessibility of product reviews in online stores for customers. He was honored for his work with an award from Siemens AG at the 2024 Academic Year Celebration. In our podcast, we talk about his (re)path to business informatics, his time abroad and his current work at dmTech.

Graduate Nathalie Sinn

Nathalie Sinn achieved an excellent Master's degree in architecture. In her master's thesis, she dealt with the application of the ideal of the healthy city using the example of an existing inner-city block in Karlsruhe. She received the Seeger & Dürr Foundation prize for her work at the 2024 Academic Year Celebration

Graduate Lucía Mandujano López

Lucía Mandujano López successfully completed her Master's degree in Sensor Systems Technology with her thesis on the testing of used returnable bottles. She was nominated as a prizewinner by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology for her outstanding work and received an award from Blanc & Fischer Familienholding GmbH & Co. KG at the 2024 Academic Year Celebration.

Graduate Ida Nitsche

In her final thesis, Ida Nitsche looked at the influence of different types of land that can affect the degree of clogging of watercourse beds. She impressed the professors at the Faculty of Architecture and Civil Engineering with her work. She studied Environmental Civil Engineering Construction at Bachelor's level and was honored for her achievement at the 2024 Academic Year Celebration with the award of the Association of German Master Builders, Architects and Engineers Baden-Württemberg e. V . (BDB).
