Cooperation scholarship

As part of the cooperation scholarship, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) is offering a Mailänder Consult scholarship for the summer semester 2027 and winter semester 2027/28 for students from the third semester of their Bachelor's degree as well as Master's students in the Civil Engineering degree program (subject to the financial resources available at the time the scholarship is awarded).

The aim is to support talented students who are expected to achieve or have already achieved outstanding academic and professional results.

The scholarship is financed by Mailänder Consult GmbH and comprises 300 euros per month for 12 months as a rule. In addition, the scholarship is linked to the opportunity to participate in a mentoring program and to take up internships, working student positions or a thesis position by individual arrangement. The opportunity to use CAD/BIM programs for the preparation of term papers as well as insights into the specialist areas of Transport Facilities, Civil Engineering, Environment and Project Management round off the offer to you.

Students for whom the following eligibility criteria apply at the start of the scholarship in the summer semester 2027 are eligible to apply. You:

• are enrolled at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences AND
• are within the standard period of study AND
• are studying for a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the third semester OR a Master's degree AND
• have an average grade of 2.5 or better.

A commitment to society and/or higher education, an interest in planning of regional and supra-regional Transportation Infrastructure in the areas of Transport Facilities, Engineering Structures, Control, Environment and Mailänder Consult, its products and Services is desirable.

Unfortunately, applications from students who are already receiving financial support (e.g. as part of StudiumPLUS, collaborative studies, Deutschlandstipendium, etc.) cannot be considered.

Scholarships are awarded on the basis of a selection decision. The Selection Committee consists of the following ex officio members

• the dean of the faculty in which most scholarships are awarded or a person appointed by this dean as chairperson,
• the Special Appointee of the President's Office Senior Management for the cooperation scholarship,
• a representative of the private sponsor

From the applications submitted in due form and time, the Selection Committee will use the selection criteria to select those applications that will be included in the selection or pre-selection, as well as further applications for a waiting list, if applicable. The selection decision is linked to an interview with the scholarship applicant.

The criteria for selection or pre-selection for all applicants are

1. the overall impression of the application (expressed, among other things, through the letter of motivation, grade sheet, information work and internship certificates, the impression of the student through appearance at university events and in the interview) and
2. additionally, for students already enrolled, the average of the study and examination credits achieved to date (average grade) and
3. additionally, for students on a Master's degree program starting in the first semester, the final grade of the previous degree program.

The scholarship is generally granted for 12 calendar months and includes the decision on the period of approval, the amount of the scholarship and the funding period.

Applications are possible from 01.11.2026. The application deadline is 30.11.2026.

• personal data for registration (online application form),
• a letter of motivation of no more than two pages (in which you should explain why you are applying for the scholarship, what you hope to gain from it, what your main areas of study and professional interests are, what practical experience you have gained and what your future plans are),
• a curriculum vitae in tabular form,
• current confirmation of matriculation,
• current grade sheet,
• University entrance qualification higher education entrance qualification (Abitur, Fachabitur, Subject-specific Higher Education Entrance Qualification, other)
• Information work and internship certificates

for applicants for a place on a Master's degree course, the certificate of a first university degree and, if applicable, further assessments in accordance with the admission and selection regulations for the Master's degree course,

The attachments must be compiled in the specified order in a PDF and uploaded.

If the application documents are not written in German or English, an officially certified translation into German is required.

If it is not possible to submit the application electronically or to scan and upload the attachments, e.g. because you will only start studying at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences in the summer semester, the application can be submitted in writing or the attachments can be submitted in paper form.

The scholarships are usually awarded for 2 semesters, starting in the summer semester 2027. Payment of the scholarship requires that the scholarship holder is enrolled at the HKA. Funding through the Mailänder Consult scholarship is excluded if the student already receives material funding based on talent and performance.

Applications not submitted in due time and form will not be considered in the selection process.

There is no legal entitlement to the scholarship.

As part of the cooperation scholarship, Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences (HKA) is offering a scholarship program for the Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (EIT) for the winter semester 2026/27 and summer semester 2027.

With the scholarship program, the VDE - Bezirksverein Mittelbaden e.V. and the Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences support a high-performing student with a scholarship of € 300 per month for 12 months as a rule. If desired, the scholarship holder will also receive a one-year free membership of the VDE as well as a contact person and the opportunity to gain an insight into the VDE network. All activities and memberships are voluntary and based on personal commitment and have no effect on the granting of the scholarship.

Students who meet the following eligibility criteria at the start of the scholarship in the winter semester 2026/27 are eligible to apply: You

• are enrolled at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences AND
• are studying for a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (German or English program) AND
• are in their second semester of the curriculum AND
• are characterized by professional ability, initiative and a sense of responsibility.

An interest in the VDE, a willingness to get involved in the district association and (previous) social and/or university commitment are desirable.

Unfortunately, applications from students who are already receiving financial support (e.g. as part of the Deutschlandstipendium, etc.) cannot be considered. Students within the framework of StudiumPLUS can apply. Funding within the framework of StudiumPLUS is NOT an exclusion criterion for this cooperation scholarship.

The scholarships are awarded on the basis of a selection decision. The Selection Committee consists of the following members by virtue of their office

• the dean of the Electrical Engineering department or a person appointed by this dean as chairperson,
• the professorial representative of the Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology
• a representative of VDE Mittelbaden or a person appointed by it
• the management of the Center of Competence or a person appointed by it

From the applications submitted in due form and time, the Selection Committee uses the selection criteria to select those applications that will be included in the selection, as well as other applications for a waiting list, if applicable. A selection interview is then held between the Selection Committee and the scholarship applicant.

The selection criteria for all applicants are

3. the grades of the study and examination credits achieved
