French

French - the language of love also offers the best opportunities in the professional world: France is Germany's most important political and economic partner in Europe. Knowledge of French is therefore a plus point on your résumé, especially in the region around Karlsruhe, and not only here: besides English, French is the only language spoken on all five continents – it is your key to the world.

Basic User (CEFR A1, A2)

Breakfast with croissants in the neighboring country?
Level A1 teaches you the basics of the French language and gives you the tools for your first independent communication.

Can you already introduce yourself and talk about your interests, and now want to deepen your knowledge?
Then A2 is the right level for you. Through many practical exercises, you will further develop both your spoken and written communication skills.

    French for beginners? This course offers you a communicative start and a quick sense of achievement: we speak as much French as possible from the first lesson. By means of practical tasks, you will learn the basics of French and the tools for first independent communication. Further we cover professional topics and you can learn the corresponding vocabulary. Cultural topics are also included.

    In this course you will deepen your knowledge and expand your oral as well as written communication by means of many practical exercises. One focus is on eating habits and food: the classroom becomes a restaurant and bakery and you learn to communicate in these situations. A second focus is on the business world: among other things, you will learn the specifics of applying for a job in French, writing a resumes and practicing short interviews based on your own situation.

    Are you ready for advanced communication in French? In the B1.1 course, you will learn to hold conversations about past, present and future experiences and go deeper into professional topics: you will learn the idioms for meetings, short negotiations and your student/professional career and practice using them in practical situations. By the end of the course, you will also be able to give a short presentation.

In the B1.2 course, you will practice talking about your opinions and ideas in more detail and discussing familiar everyday as well as professional topics. You will also learn how to deal with complex professional situations, preparing for a potential stay abroad: what are the specifics of French phone calls and emails, how do I discuss my employment contract, my salary or difficulties I may have with clients.

  • French B2 - Français des Affaires

    Negotiating in French? The course Français des Affaires prepares you for this. In this course, you will learn the necessary vocabulary, background knowledge about French culture, and do many practical exercises. The course focuses on the current economic situation in Germany and France. Using current videos and articles, you will compare the two countries and also learn to understand and discuss macroeconomic issues in French.

    Are you planning an internship or job in France? This course can prepare you: The focus is on the specifics of French companies and the French labor market. You will learn how to introduce yourself in a French company, how to conduct telephone conversations and how to manage customer relations (at trade fairs, business dinners, etc.). You will also practice writing applications for internships or jobs.
