Gas engine technology - GenLab
The research group Gas Engine Technology, Gas Engine Laboratory - GenLab, in the Institute of Refrigeration, Air-Conditioning and Environmental Engineering (IKKU) and in the Institute for Energy Efficient Mobility (IEEM) was founded in March 2010 as part of the IKKU under the leadership of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Maurice Kettner.
The core competencies of the research area are in the fields of spark-ignited engines and cogeneration. In addition to the development of novel combustion processes and operating strategies, the investigation of alternative fuels and the further development of exhaust gas aftertreatment systems, for example, are current research priorities. Engine test benches with extensive measurement technology as well as various component test benches are available for conducting tests, which are supplemented by the use of simulation tools (AVL).
