From 20 to 22 July 2026, the Institute of Data-Centric Software Systems at Karlsruhe University of Applied Sciences held its annual retreat at the Episcopal Seminary in Speyer. The programme focused on the progress of our doctoral researchers, who presented their current work and discussed it in structured feedback sessions. We also reflected on the PhD process and explored how project responsibilities and doctoral research can be balanced effectively. Further key topics included the institute’s strategic goals and the allocation of shared tasks and responsibilities. The focused setting provided valuable space for open exchange, fresh ideas and the continued development of our collaboration. A joint boat trip on the Rhine rounded off the programme and offered an opportunity for informal conversations.
